The New Guardians of the Galaxy Member Has An Essential Connection To Captain Marvel*

One of the members of the new team introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is closely connected to Captain Marvel in the comics. Marvel's cosmic side is filled with powerful characters of all shapes and sizes. Many of them have already appeared or been teased in live-action while others are yet to debut on the MCU. From the Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, Adam Warlock, Ego the Living Planet, Thor, and Silver Surfer to Nova, Beta Ray Bill, and Annihilus, the MCU can still tell countless new stories centered around famous and not-so-famous cosmic characters.
It didn't take long for a new MCU Guardians of the Galaxy team to be formed after the original version broke up. The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 post-credits scene reveals that Rocket Raccoon's new team is composed of Rocket, Groot, Kraglin, Adam Warlock, Cosmo, and Phyla. The first five members may seem more familiar given their previous appearances or set-ups, but the final member, Phyla, is a more obscure character. Although the movie doesn't address it, Phyla has a hidden connection to Marvel's cosmic universe that Marvel Studios may only begin to reveal in future movies and shows.
