Strange New Worlds Season 2 Takes Spock & Chapel To The Next Level*

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 appears to take Lt. Spock (Ethan Peck) and Nurse Christine Chapel's (Jess Bush) mutual attraction to the next level, but what does that mean for Spock's fiancée, T'Pring (Gia Sandhu)? Strange New Worlds season 1 fused two Spock romance stories from Star Trek: The Original Series: the revelation that Spock (Leonard Nimoy) was betrothed to T'Pring (Arlene Martel) on Vulcan and the unrequited love Nurse Chapel (Majel Barrett-Roddenberry) felt for the Starship Enterprise's Science Officer. Strange New Worlds season 1 heated up both storylines involving the younger versions of Spock, Chapel, and T'Pring.
Delving into Spock and T'Pring's relationship, and then inserting Nurse Chapel to create a love triangle, was one of Strange New Worlds season 1's savviest moves, and it added a palpable electric romantic tension that was very successful. There is obviously smoldering chemistry between Spock and T'Pring, but the same can be said for Spock and Chapel. In Strange New Worlds episode 7, "The Serene Squall," Spock and Christine faked a romance to fool Captain Angel (Jesse James Keitel), who had hijacked the USS Enterprise. But the truth was Christine was enamored with Spock, yet she understood that he was promised to T'Pring. However, Spock implicitly trusts Chapel, and he turned to her when he began to lose control of his emotions at the end of Strange New Worlds episode 9, "All Those Who Wander."
