Suicide Squad’s Ayer Cut Gets Optimistic Update From DC Director*

The Ayer cut of 2016's Suicide Squad has just received an optimistic updated from the director of the DC movie, David Ayer. The Suicide Squad movie went through a pretty unconventional process, as the old DC management chose to edit the film around the way trailers presented the story, effectively doing away with Ayer's vision for the movie. Multiple scenes got cut, and the movie was poorly received, which led to James Gunn's more vibrant sequel/ reboot The Suicide Squad in 2021.
David Ayer shared on Twitter an optimistic update on the status of his Suicide Squad cut.
The director told a fan that he recently spoke to Gunn, asking that the audience be patient as Gunn sets up his new DC universe, because "good things are coming" — hinting that it is not too late for Ayer's cut of Suicide Squad. Following the seven years since Ayer's movie was released in theaters, DC has changed a lot, with The Suicide Squad director Gunn now being the studio's creative lead, which could help — or not — the project. Check out Ayer's full quote translated below:
I spoke to him a while ago. All with patience. He has the right to put together his new universe before visiting the past. Cheer up. Good things are coming ;)
