Shazam 2"s "Khaleesi" Reference Has Already Aged Poorly*

There are several problems with the dated Khaleesi reference to Game of Thrones presented in the trailer for Shazam: Fury of the Gods. Chief among these is the use of the word Khaleesi in the wake of the House of the Dragon spinoff series. A larger issue, however, is why Billy Batson would have knowledge of the Game of Thrones setting in the first place.
The incongruous Game of Thrones reference seems indicative of the many problems facing DC Studios' movies and Warner Bros. Discovery. With a new DC Universe in the works after the lackluster reception to Black Adam, there is a perception that the upcoming DC Studios releases, like Shazam: Fury of the Gods, are essentially dead on arrival, being tied to a version of the DC Universe that has no future. That perception of being tied to the past was not helped by the trailer for Shazam: Fury of the Gods, in which Shazam (Zachary Levi) taunts the dragon-riding villain Calypso (Lucy Liu) by calling her Khaleesi.
