Agatha All Along"s Ending Sets Up A New, Worse Witch Problem For The MCU"s Future According To Marvel Theory*
The ending of
Agatha All Along seemed to wrap up several loose ends, but a new theory suggests this is only the beginning for witches in the MCU and the fabled Witches" Road itself. Witches have been known to exist in the MCU since 2014"s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, with the Phase 2 movie"s post-credits scene debuting Wanda Maximoff"s Scarlet Witch. However, it wasn"t until 2021"s WandaVision and its 2024 spinoff, Agatha All Along, that the mythology and history of witches was explored in more detail.
WandaVision introduced Kathryn Hahn"s Agatha Harkness in the MCU, who went on to form a new coven in Agatha All Along and set off down the Witches" Road. Agatha All Along"s finale confirmed that
Joe Locke"s Billy Maximoff, the reincarnated son of the Scarlet Witch, subconsciously created the Witches" Road based on folklore and legends, but the consequences on the Road were indeed very real. A new MCU theory now suggests the Witches" Road may be more important in the MCU"s future, and Agatha All Along set up the perfect way to revisit it.
Jennifer Kale Still Thinks The Witches’ Road Is Real Billy Maximoff Created The Witches' Road In The MCU Close While Agatha Harkness always knew that the Witches" Road was a fabricated reality, similar to the Scarlet Witch"s Hex around Westview in WandaVision, Billy Maximoff realized he created the Road in Agatha All Along"s finale. However, the only other witch to make it off the Witches" Road, Sasheer Zamata"s Jennifer Kale, has no idea that the Road is not real. In fact,
Kale got exactly what she wanted from the Witches" Road, having unbound herself from Agatha Harkness" spell and regained her power, so she will surely be completely convinced that the Road exists.
Jennifer Kale made her Marvel Comics debut in 1972"s Adventure into Fear #11, and she has gone on to become one of the most powerful sorcerers in the Marvel Universe, so her MCU debut is very exciting. Jennifer Kale is the cousin of Johnny Blaze"s Ghost Rider in Marvel Comics, too, which could make his much-anticipated MCU debut far easier.
After Jennifer Kale reclaimed her power in the final trial on the Witches" Road, Billy Maximoff subconsciously returned her to Westview, where she climbed from beneath the ground and flew away to locations unknown.
It would be fantastic to see Kale return in the MCU"s future, and this will likely see her spread the legend of the Witches" Road even further, which could become very important if a new MCU theory turns out to be true. While Agatha Harkness came up with the legend of the Witches" Road, Billy Maximoff may have made it a permanent reality.
Agatha All Along Theory Suggests Billy Maximoff Didn’t Destroy The Witches’ Road Agatha All Along's Finale Saw The Door To The Witches' Road Seemingly Sealed
Agatha All Along"s finale seemed to imply that Billy Maximoff destroyed the Witches" Road, with him engraving a memorial to Sharon Davis, Alice Wu-Gulliver and Lilia Calderu, who all died on the Road, where the door to the Road once sat in Agatha Harkness" basement. However,
it has been theorized in the weeks since that Billy Maximoff only sealed that door to the Witches" Road, but did not destroy the Road itself. This theory makes a lot of sense, especially since Billy Maximoff doesn"t yet know how to properly control his remarkable reality warping abilities.
Related Billy Maximoff's MCU Return Explained: How He Survived WandaVision's Ending Agatha All Along episode 5 confirmed that Joe Locke is playing Billy Maximoff"s Wiccan in the MCU, and episode 6 revealed his new origin story.
Agatha All Along confirmed that there are several different entrances and exits on and off the Witches" Road, not just the door that appeared in the floor of Agatha"s basement. The Salem Seven accessed the Road through an empty tunnel in Westview"s failed public transit system, Death joined Agatha Harkness" coven by climbing out of a grave, and Jennifer Kale left the Road by clambering out of the ground just outside Westview. This means it"s very likely that, if the Witches" Road still exists, someone else could easily access it in the MCU"s future.
Other Witches Will Likely Track Down Jennifer Kale In The MCU’s Future Agatha Harkness Is No Longer The Witches' Road's Only Survivor
Even though other characters know the history of the Witches" Road - that Agatha Harkness created the legend in order to lure witches into her trap - Jennifer Kale does not. Kale believes the Witches" Road is very real, and her traumatic experience on the Road, which involved her losing almost every member of her coven and coming close to death herself, and the fact that she regained her abilities as she wished reinforces this belief.
Similarly to how Agatha Harkness became known as the Witches" Road"s sole survivor, Jennifer Kale will surely now become well-known in the magic community.

This newfound fame could see other witches and magic-users in the MCU approach Jennifer Kale with the hopes that she will guide them to the Witches" Road. There"s no doubt that she would be reluctant to travel back to the Witches" Road, as she didn"t exactly have a good time there, but after some convincing, it"s possible she could take other witches onto the Road.
If the theory of the Witches" Road"s permanent creation turns out to be true, Jennifer Kale could find herself back there, facing new tricks, trials and tribulations.
What Could The Witches’ Road Offer To The MCU The Witches' Road Could Change The Shape Of The MCU Forever
If Billy Maximoff only sealed one door to the Witches" Road, and the Road itself is now a permanent fixture,
many magic-users in the MCU could be given whatever their heart desires. Notably, the Witches" Road has been heavily speculated to be the perfect way to bring Elizabeth Olsen"s Scarlet Witch back to the MCU following her demise in 2022"s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. After
Agatha All Along, Billy and Tommy Maximoff could travel to the Witches" Road to wish for their mother"s return, while there could be far more dangerous repercussions to the Road"s survival, too.
