In Leinil Francis Yu’s cover art, Bucky’s Winter Soldier takes on the Sorcerer Supreme Doom, with Black Widow, Songbird, and a seemingly new Citizen V joining the fight, as current and reformed villains clash in an all-out war against Doom’s authority.
The Original Thunderbolts Return To Take On The Latest Incarnation Of The Team In Marvel's "One World Under Doom" Is The Supervillain Leading The Classic Team? Close After Marvel’s last Thunderbolts comic series ended earlier this year, Bucky Barnes deemed Doctor Doom himself a Thunderbolt, and it seems those words may come back to bite as the villain assembles classic team members against Bucky’s lineup of heroes. When the team first debuted in the 90s, they were revealed as the Masters of Evil under superhero aliases, led by Baron Zemo to trick the public and government into letting them operate as a legitimate super-team. Under Doom’s stewardship as he takes over the world, original members Atlas, Fixer, Moonstone, and more will take on Bucky and his squad.

Writers Kelly and Lanzing clarified that this limited series will feature characters and storylines dating back to Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty, and seems to directly spin out of their four-issue Thunderbolts (2024).
Along with the Winter Soldier, that version saw members that are confirmed to return, including Black Widow, Sharon Carter, U.S. Agent, and more; Bucky’s roster will include another fan-favorite member from the original Thunderbolts, Songbird, known for being redeemed as a hero during her tenure on the team. It seems that any past member is an option to join the fight for or against Doom’s Thunderbolts.
The MCU's Summer 2025 Blockbusters Collide In An Incredible Comic Book Crossover Get More Doom & More Thunderbolts Before They Hit The Screen
Since the new Thunderbolts adventure heavily revolves around one of the Fantastic Four’s main villains, the comic crossover tie-in functions as a neat combination of the MCU’s offerings in summer 2025. Before Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps hit theaters, Marvel Comics’ One World Under Doom features the legendary antagonist Doom trying to extend his takeover to Bucky’s team,
with the help of some of the original Masters of Evil. The major event will also make room for another “Thunderbolt”, with General Thaddeus Ross’ Red Hulk returning to the pages of Marvel Comics in the war against Doom.
As a team that was conceived to be corrupt, Bucky and his squad of mostly reformed villains turned heroes will try to take down Doom’s system.
Described by the upcoming limited series’ writers as “Marvel’s meanest, messiest superteam”, it’s bound to be action-packed as the Thunderbolts battle against each other, with promised surprise appearances from various former members along the way. With many of the original villainous
