Picard Recreating TNG"s Enterprise-D Took 4 Months, Says Showrunner*

Star Trek: Picard season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas details how the USS Enterprise-D was recreated for episode 9, "Vox." The Galaxy Class Enterprise-D made a surprise return at the end of Picard episode 309, which Matalas also directed. Restored "bit by bit over the last 20 years" by Commodore Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton), the Enterprise-D was Geordi's surprise in Hangar Bay 12 of the Fleet Museum on Athan Prime. The D is now the last best hope of Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and the crew of Star Trek: The Next Generation to stop the unholy alliance of the Borg and the Changelings.
In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Terry Matalas explained how Star Trek: Picard season 3 production designers Dave Blass and Liz Kloczkowski spent 4 months lovingly recreating the bridge of the TNG's beloved Enterprise-D, with the help of Michael and Denise Okuda, who worked on the original Enterprise-D set on The Next Generation. Terry Matalas: It was an incredibly involved process that spanned 4 months. Dave Blass and Liz Kloczkowski lived and breathed that set (on top of building all our other sets for the season). It meant bringing back Trek legends Mike and Denise Okuda to make sure it was 100% accurate. We had to get it right. It was a tremendous labor of love.
