Wolverine may not have been as brutal as his comic book counterpart can be, but both the X-Men films and the Wolverine solo films had some very intense Logan fight scenes. Despite never wearing Wolverine’s classic yellow costume from the comics, Jackman delivered an instant-classic take on the iconic Marvel mutant and remains the only live-action version of Wolverine 23 years after X-Men (2000). Jackman’s Wolverine was part of nine movies between major roles and cameos, a list that will increase now that Wolverine returns in Deadpool 3.
Logan, Deadpool, and Deadpool 2 were the only R-Rated films in the
Fox X-Men movie universe. For that reason, Wolverine’s fight scenes could only be so violent, resulting in a slightly less deadly version of the character. That said, Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine made sure that Logan always looked as intense as the comics depicted the clawed mutant. 7 X-Men: Apocalypse’s Weapon X Escape

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine returned in X-Men: Apocalypse in what would be his final appearance in an X-Men movie before Logan wrapped up the character’s journey. Wolverine’s role in X-Men: Apocalypse was as surprising as it was confusing, and it did not really add much to the story. It seemed like X-Men: Apocalypse had paused its main plotline to follow Wolverine for a few minutes, and his escape from Weapon X had nothing to do with the X-Men's stories. That said, Apocalypse’s Wolverine’s Weapon X escape was one of the most brutal Wolverine scenes, way longer and more action-packed than how X-Men Origins: Wolverine did it.
6 X-Men Origins’ Wolverine vs. Sabertooth Bar Fight

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is arguably the worst X-Men movie, but it had a few great Wolverine moments. Instead of a henchman to Magneto like in X-Men (2000), Sabertooth was retconned as Wolverine's brother in X-Men Origins, creating a personal history between Logan and his arch-nemesis. Sabertooth stole the show in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, thanks to moments like his bar fight against Wolverine. Logan still did not have his adamantium skeleton, making the fight between the two mutant brothers even more brutal. Though not a very long scene, Wolverine and Sabertooth’s first fight in X-Men Origins was quite visceral and ended with Victor stepping on Logan’s bone claws.
5 X-Men’s Wolverine vs. Lady Deathstrike Fight

Wolverine’s story was at the center of X-Men 2, which was no surprise considering how popular Jackman’s Wolverine had been in X-Men (2000). William Striker, the man behind the Weapon X project, had now returned with bigger plans not just for Wolverine but for all of Charles Xavier’s X-Men. By revisiting Wolverine’s history with Striker, X-Men 2 showed glimpses of Logan’s origin story, including the lab in which the mutant received his adamantium claws. Wolverine was paired against another of Striker’s creations, Lady Deathstrike, and the result was one of the most brutal Wolverine fights in all of the X-Men films.
For the first time since his introduction in X-Men, Wolverine had to face an opponent with a similar set of skills to him. As if that was not challenging enough, Lady Deathstrike was clearly more skilled than Logan. The adamantium skeleton and the claws were just a part of what made Lady Deathstrike such a deadly fighter, as she was also quicker and more precise than Logan. Even though Wolverine can heal from almost anything, Lady Deathstrike’s moves were so fast that Logan’s healing factor could not keep up. Had it not been for the vat of liquid adamantium, Wolverine would have lost against Lady Deathstrike.
4 X-Men: The Last Stand’s Forest Fight

The forest fight in X-Men 3 was one of the few instances in the X-Men movies in which Wolverine got to be as brutal as his cinematic counterpart. One of the challenges of adapting Wolverine is that all of his moves should either be lethal or cause massive damage, as adamantium claws can cut pretty much anything. In X-Men 3, Logan did not care about collateral damage when trying to infiltrate Magneto’s Brotherhood to talk to Jean Grey and either killed or severely hurt every mutant who stood in his way. Though not as long as X-Men 2’s mansion attack, X-Men 3’s forest fight stood out from other Wolverine scenes.

In the first and so far only R-Rated Wolverine movie, Logan got to showcase a side of the character that none of the previous X-Men and Wolverine movies did.
