Star Trek: Picard season 3 wrapped up most of the series’ storylines, but there are still a number of questions that could be answered in a Star Trek: Legacy spinoff. Picard season 3 not only served as a sendoff for Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart), but the entire cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation, who reunited for the first time since the final TNG movie, Star Trek: Nemesis. Their final mission saw them take on both the Borg and the Changelings to prevent a plot to topple the Federation on Frontier Day.
Star Trek: Picard season 3 did a remarkable job of serving as a final chapter for the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as wrapping up most of the arcs from three seasons of Star Trek: Picard. And yet the final moments of the series finale "The Last Generation" explicitly sets up a spinoff that producer Terry Matalas hopes becomes Star Trek: Legacy, a new ongoing series set in the 25th century. That potential show could answer a few lingering questions left over from Picard season 3.
