Gar"s New Origin Confirms A Doom Patrol Character Is Just As Bad In Titans*

Warning: The following contains SPOILERS for Titans season 4, episode 9, "Dude, Where's My Gar?" and Doom Patrol season 1.The virus that changed Gar Logan into Beast Boy got a revised origin story in Titans season 4, which seems more appropriate to HBO Max's Doom Patrol series. Long considered under-utilized and underpowered, Beast Boy got a major power upgrade and more screen time as a central character in Titans season 4. Despite this, he also vanished from the series for two episodes following his mysterious disappearance in the Titans season 4 mid-season finale.
Titans season 4, episode 9, "Dude, Where's My Gar?" is entirely devoted to Beast Boy, showing how he was retrieved from the mystic realm called The Red by a man named Dominic Mndawe. Also known as Freedom Beast, Dominic reached out to Gar not only because of their shared connection to The Red, but also because of their shared pain. Dominic revealed that he lost his family to the same Green Plague that killed Gar Logan's parents. Freedom Beast also revealed the true cause of the Green Plague, using The Red to show Beast Boy echos of his own past and what he discovered about the Green Plague's origins.
