Star Wars: The Clone Wars Voice Cast - What The Actors Look Like In Real Life*

Star Wars: The Clone Wars features a phenomenal voice cast, many of whom will be well known from other projects - and some of whom have moved on to portray their characters in live-action. Even those who have not returned - such as Ashley Eckstein, who has been replaced by Rosario Dawson - remain heavily involved with the Star Wars franchise. George Lucas and Dave Filoni really did transform careers when they chose to bring people into their hit animated Star Wars TV show.
Given that's the case, viewers will hardly be surprised to know there are a lot of familiar voices in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Here's your ultimate guide to the voice cast of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, focusing in on the main characters. A final section gives you all you need to know about the supporting cast.
14 Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker For many, Matt Lanter is best known as the animated voice of Anakin Skywalker, but he’s also had a lot of success acting in live-action. Before The Clone Wars Lanter had recurring roles on shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Monk, and Heroes. However, Lanter’s career really started to take off once he took on the role of Anakin Skywalker. He had main roles in multiple live-action television shows, including playing Liam Court in the CW reboot of 90210 which Lanter was a part of from 2009 to 2013. More recently Lanter starred on the short-lived NBC show Timeless where he played Master Sergeant Wyatt Logan.
While Lanter doesn’t look much like Hayden Christensen, his voice was able to build upon Christensen’s live-action performance of Anakin Skywalker. Hayden Christensen says he's indebted to the Clone Wars version of Anakin, feeling the portrayal really helped flesh his character out. Lanter also made the jump to live-action in the Star Wars galaxy when he cameoed in The Mandalorian season 1, episode 6, playing a New Republic guard.
13 James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Plo Koon James Arnold Taylor was an accomplished voice actor before he took over as the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: The Clone Wars; in fact, Taylor is one of only three cast members of The Clone Wars to have also worked on the 2-D Star Wars: The Clone Wars from 2003. Since then Taylor has voiced Master Obi-Wan in multiple Star Wars projects, most recently Tales of the Jedi and the video game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. A gifted mimic, Taylor has the ability to essentially copy any voice he’s heard, which is why his portrayal of Obi-Wan sounds so similar to Ewan McGregor’s version of the character.
Beyond Star Wars Taylor has had many successful voice-acting roles with Lego DC as Barry Allen/The Flash, and Ratchet in multiple Ratchet and Clank titles, and as Johnny Test in the show of the same title. Despite his success in animation and voice-over work, Taylor seemingly has no interest in acting in live-action, which his acting credits being less than ten, and some of those include appearances based on his voice-acting roles. Considering how much Taylor loves the characters of Obi-Wan and Plo Koon, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him eventually cameo in a Star Wars title.
12 Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka Tano Ahsoka Tano is one of the few characters that didn’t have to be reimagined for animation because Dave Filoni created the character specifically for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. This allowed for Ashley Eckstein’s portrayal of Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan to feel like a breath of fresh air and allowed for audiences to see a new side of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi through their interactions with Ahsoka. Eckstein has been the voice of Ahsoka since 2008 and recently reprised the role in Tales of the Jedi, in which three episodes focused on different parts of Ahsoka’s life.
Despite Ashley Eckstein’s amazing tenure as the Togruta Jedi, she was recast in favor of Rosario Dawson for live-action. Eckstein has been very supportive of Dawson’s casting and is excited for Ahsoka’s story to continue, even if she’s not playing her. While Eckstein is best known for playing Ahsoka, she has other acting credits, both in live-action and voice work. In recent years, most of her credits have been in voice acting, but there’s hope that she will cameo in the upcoming Ahsoka Disney+ series. Eckstein has been tight-lipped about it, but an Eckstein cameo would be a great way to further honor the actor who brought Ahsoka to life for so long.
