5 Ways Batman Forever Was Almost Very Different & Better*

Batman Forever is the stand-alone sequel to Tim Burton’s Batman Returns, and it was so different from Burton’s Batman films that it doesn’t feel like part of the same universe, but had some of the original ideas for it been kept, Batman Forever could have been very different but also better. Although Batman Returns was well-received by critics, its darker tone and story didn’t appeal to the audience at the time of its release, leading Warner Bros. to change its plan for future Batman movies. The studio asked Tim Burton to step down as director, and Joel Schumacher was brought in as the director of a sequel titled Batman Forever.
Now with Val Kilmer as Bruce Wayne, Batman Forever saw the Caped Crusader trying to stop Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones) and Edward Nygma a.k.a. The Riddler (Jim Carrey), who joined forces to take control of Gotham through one of the Riddler’s inventions: The Box, which stole information from users’ minds and transferred it to Nygma’s mind, making him the most intelligent man in Gotham City. Although Batman Forever was a box office success, it received mixed reviews and is regarded as one of the weakest Batman movies ever made, but had Schumacher and company stuck to some of their original ideas, Batman Forever would have been very different but also a much better movie than it is. Here are five ways in which Batman Forever was almost better.
