What Coruscant Looks Like Under The City Layer*

Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for The Mandalorian season 3, episode 3.
The Mandalorian season 3, episode 3 offered a new look at Coruscant, yet there are still a lot of unanswered questions regarding Star Wars’ iconic planet. Introduced in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Coruscant remained a crucial location throughout the Star Wars prequel trilogy and continues to be revisited to this day. Be it through detailed descriptions in Star Wars novels or with breathtaking established shots, the capital of the Republic is still being explored.
Told mostly through the perspective of Dr. Pershing (Omid Abtahi) and Elia Kane (Katy M. O'Brian), The Mandalorian season 3, episode 3 “The Convert” portrays a post-Return of the Jedi Coruscant. One interesting scene saw Dr. Pershing and former officer Kane visiting Umate, the highest Coruscant mountain, whose peak could be seen from the city layer. That raises the questions of how far down Coruscant goes, and what the planet looks like beyond the cityscape.
