Armor Wars Can Tell 1 Iron Man Story The MCU Botched*

Marvel Studios can tell one major Iron Man story during their upcoming Armor Wars film. Armor Wars was officially announced to be in development at Disney's 2020 Investor Day, initially being penned as a six-part Disney+ series, but it was later revealed that the project would be reworked into a feature-length film. Armor Wars will see Don Cheadle suit up as War Machine, leading on from his upcoming appearance in Secret Invasion alongside Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury. While the film will deal directly with Tony Stark's death in Avengers: Endgame, Armor Wars has the opportunity to tell Iron Man stories that the MCU has previously avoided.
Throughout his MCU career, Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark often had run-ins with the Ten Rings, an organization that was kept in the shadows until Phase 4. Iron Man saw Stark kidnaped by the Ten Rings in Afghanistan, Iron Man 3 introduced Trevor Slattery, Sir Ben Kingsley's chaotic actor posing as the Mandarin, the leader of the Ten Rings, and the organization even made brief appearances in Iron Man 2 and Ant-Man. However, it wasn't until Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings that the real Mandarin was revealed, but this, unfortunately, came after the death of the villain's archenemy in Marvel Comics.
