By the time The Flash season 9 finishes its run on The CW, it will be the longest-running Arrowverse series, surpassing even Arrow. For the final season, The Flash season 9 was picked up for 13 episodes, making it the shortest season in the show's history. Currently, four episodes have aired of The Flash's swan-song season, with next week wrapping up the Red Death storyline.
The Flash series finale has been worked on for a few weeks, with Vanessa Parise helming the final episode. While the title hasn't been revealed for episode 13, it was written by showrunner Eric Wallace and Sam Chalsen. As The Flash series finale is wrapping this weekend, several members of the cast have taken to Instagram to celebrate the filming of the final episode. Additionally, Arrow star Stephen Amell congratulated the team on their long tenure.
